Admission Arrangements for 2022-23 Entry
Between 12 October and 29 November 2020 all admissions authorities for schools in York jointly conducted a consultation on admission arrangements for the admissions rounds for entry in September 2022-23.
The closing date for comments was 29 November 2020. After considering any comments received, the MAT Board, in its role as an admission authority, then formally set (‘determined’) these arrangements on 11 February 2021.
Any objections to our arrangements may be made by parents/others to the Schools Adjudicator by the 15 May 2021. All objections must be received by the adjudicator on or before 15 May 2021, at: The Office of the Schools Adjudicator Mowden Hall, Staindrop Road, Darlington, DL3 9BG OSA.TEAM@osa.gsi.gov.uk Tel: 0870 0012468 Fax: 01325 391313.
Admission Policy for 2022-23 Entry
We are a very popular school for pupils both within and outside of our catchment area. Many families and parents choose Rufforth as their first preference choice because they are keen for their child to experience a tailored, nurturing small school environment in which our pupils are proven to excel.
We are proud of our achievements, successes and our wonderful children and families and would actively encourage any parents interested in joining our school to arrange a visit with Miss Richards, the headteacher.
Due to high demand, first preference choices for Rufforth School will have a stronger chance of securing a place, so we encourage parents keen on gaining a place to select us as a first choice. Our pupils come from Rufforth village and further afield. Within our current Reception class, 64% of children live outside of the catchment area so please do not let your location discourage you from applying.
If would like to arrange a date to look around please contact Mrs Walton either emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01904 806222.
Children joining in other year groups at different times of the year.
We can accept more children in other year groups at different times of the year, if class organisation is not affected and we have the capacity to accommodate. Usually, this will only be considered for children living directly within our catchment area where Rufforth is their only feasible local school.
Currently, we do have some in-year places and could therefore accept pupils in those year groups – please enquire via the school and local authority.
In year groups with higher numbers, the governing body will review all applications and inform parents and the local authority of a decision.
We therefore urge all potential parents to contact the school to arrange a visit. Following this meeting, parents must contact the local authority. All applications and expressions of interest must be made through City of York admissions who act as our admission authority.
